Batwara 1947
After the Partition in 1947, the protagonist (Sunny Deol) flees Meerut with his family and arrives in Lahore. They are allotted a grand house abandoned by a Hindu family during the chaos of Partition. But the house is not empty. Still living inside is an elderly Hindu woman, caring, deeply rooted and unwilling to leave the home where generations of her family once lived. The protagonist finds himself torn between the past scars and his growing empathy for the old woman. What begins with hostility slowly evolves into an unexpected emotional bond between the family and the old woman. Set against the haunting aftermath of Partition, the film is a story about belonging, compassion and the courage to protect humanity when the world demands division.
